Dr. Daniel Stewart founded Smile Savers Dentistry after graduating from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1989. Since its inception, he has practiced dentistry using the most updated dental techniques in a kind, fun-loving environment. The office is very comfortable and relaxing.
Besides dentistry, Dr. Stewart is active in supporting the Carol Jean Cancer Foundation, Citizens Commission on Human Rights, the Second Chance Program and is the Co-Founder of Applied Scholastics Academy of Maryland. Dr. Jonathan Mandras [Associate Dentist] grew up in the Owings Mills, Maryland area. After graduation from the University of Maryland, College Park, he started pursuing his dental career at the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery and graduated in 2007. Dr. Mandras completed a one year general dentistry residency at Bay Pines VA Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida and then returned to Maryland to practice dentistry.
Outside of the office Dr. Mandras enjoys sports, traveling and spending time with his family. This upcoming November, Dr. Mandras and his fiancée Erin will marry in Michigan.
Arezou (Ari) Hoghooghi [Dental Hygienist] has been a member of Smile Savers Dentistry since 2009. Ari moved to the United States about ten years ago. In her prior career she was a teacher; her calm manner and patience is an indicator of this experience. Ari's warm and positive energy puts patients at ease as she cares for them. Along with her excellent clinical skills she also works hard to educate patients about the link between gum disease and overall health. Katrina Beyer [Dental Hygienist] is originally from southern Maryland. Katrina began her working career as an elementary school teacher; she earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Salisbury University and taught Kindergarten and third grade for five years. In 2004, Katrina decided to change careers and become a dental hygienist, receiving her Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene from Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio. As a dental hygienist, Katrina strives to make her patients as comfortable and relaxed as possible by getting to know them. Her trademark involves providing her patients with quality dental care, thorough oral hygiene instruction, and a few laughs along the way.
In her free time, Katrina enjoys reading, hanging at the pool, gardening and geocaching with her husband and young daughter. Her family includes 1 grumpy, old cat, 8 fish and an ever-changing number of "calipillers," inchworms, moths, butterflies, the occasional toad, and other "specimens" collected by her daughter.
Elaine Deskin [Dental Assistant] has been working in the dental field for many years. She started out in 1969 working for Johns Hopkins Dental Clinic. She is X-ray certified and a certified Dental Assistant. Elaine started working for Smile Savers Dentistry in 1992. She worked at the front desk and also assisted. Elaine loves working with the patients at Smile Savers.
Elaine also has three grown children and eight grandchildren and loves spending her extra time with them.
CJ Burwell [Dental Assistant ] is one of two dental assistants at Smile Savers Dentistry. CJ previously was a general manager of a Burger King for 5 years before enrolling into Kaplan University's Dental Assisting Program. CJ attended college in Frederick, MD where he became radiology and CPR certified, later graduating in May of 2010 before joining the team at Smile Savers Dentistry.
In his free time, CJ enjoys watching pro football ("Go Cowboys!") and basketball with his friends, listening to music and spending time with his family. CJ also suffers from not being able to stop shopping for his daughter and himself.
Summer Andrade-Rodriguez [Office Manager] started at Smile Savers Dentistry in May of 2004. She came in as a patient and received the "best dental treatment that she had ever experienced." Summer was offered a job based on her outgoing personality. She had no formal training but received on the job training and took night classes to receive her certifications. Summer worked in the back as a dental assistant for 2 years and loved every minute of it. When a position at the front came available she jumped at the chance to learn something new. Summer has worked at the front desk and with all of the patients here for the last 4 years. She have taken extensive management classes to learn the best way to help run the dental office to make it a very pleasurable experience for the patients.
Summer is married and a mother of 2 "wonderful and crazy boys." Her hobbies include home improvement projects, watching movies with her kids and hiking and exploring new places.
Latoya Samuel [Front Desk Manager] has seven years of dental experience. She began her career as a Dental Assistant in 2003. Latoya began working at Smile Savers Dentistry in November of 2009 as a dental assistant. She later moved to the position of front desk receptionist. At Smile Savers Dentistry she enjoys the daily interaction with all Smile Savers' fun and energetic patients.
When Latoya is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys reading suspense novels.
